Weiss Gift Assists the Emeryville Community Organic Garden

May 2010

Supporting the health and vitality of the community in which we work is a hallmark of Weiss Associates’ approach to doing business. To that end, Weiss recently made a gift to Sam Foushee, director of the Emeryville Community Organic Garden, located at 59th and Doyle Streets in Emeryville, CA. The gift will assist the Garden in procuring a shade structure. The structure will provide respite from the sun for people working at or visiting the Garden and offer a space for plants that need relief from direct sunlight.

Weiss, an environmental engineering and science firm, has been headquartered in Emeryville since its founding in 1980. The recent gift to the Community Garden is just one element of Weiss’s corporate giving plan that supports various non-profit organizations in the Bay Area. Some of the funding donated to the Garden was raised during Emeryville’s Earth Day Celebration in April where Weiss operated an exhibit booth and offered vegetable starts to the public for donations benefitting the Garden.

“We support the community in which we work and want to see our community healthy and prosperous,” said Tom Fojut, a senior project manager at Weiss who presented the gift to Mr. Foushee. “Our gift to the Emeryville Community Organic Garden will make the space more functional and enjoyable for the Garden’s participants and visitors.”
